Who: Caroline and Wesley Crow

When: Sept. 10, 2022

The story: Caroline and Wesley met in sixth grade during art class, talking about The Beatles. They didn’t end up dating until after high school. Fast forward to their engagement: Wesley proposed while the two of them were on a hike in Hocking Hills, just after witnessing a pair of birds fly over a waterfall. “A couple came down from the hiking trail and airdropped us some photos of the proposal!” Caroline says of the engagement.

The wedding: The bride and groom wore some of Caroline’s grandparents’ wedding jewelry on their big day, danced traditional Greek wedding dances and had their family and friends bake a mix of Greek and Italian desserts for their “cookie table” at the reception, which was held at Meekers Venue. Wesley’s Theo (Greek for “uncle”) also brewed the couple a special beer from his brewery in Lorain, Ohio. “And we incorporated one of our favorite movies, "Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure," into our wedding vows,” Caroline says.

Special moments: Caroline notes the Greek dancing “was so memorable,” as family and friends threw dollar bills over the couple as they danced their first dance, with their family and bridal party joining in on the fun shortly after.

Caroline also mentions their caterer, the Berwick Manor, used plates for the couple’s reception from the 1950s (when the catering business started), which held special meaning for the couple. “My grandparents would have used those plates for many family weddings and other functions,” Caroline says. “Everything had a special tie in to our family [for the wedding] or something we love.”
