Real Columbus Wedding: Lynn and Grant Niedzweidski Portray Distinctive Wedding Style

The couple danced their first dance to Elvis’ famous song “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” Their proposal is equal parts romantic and meaningful, “one for the books,” as they say.

Who: Lynn and Grant Niedzweidski

When: Sept. 4, 2022

The story: Lynn and Grant met in August 2015 on Lynn's first day of Athletic Band at Ohio State. “We both played bass drum, so we saw each other a lot throughout that first semester,” Lynn says. “We spent a lot of time together between then and finals. That next semester, Grant was heading to Michigan for an eight-month internship, so the day he went back home and I moved out of my dorm for winter break, I was heartbroken,” Lynn says.

She had recently been teaching herself to play the ukulele and “was in love” with the cover that Tyler Joseph of Twenty One Pilots did of Elvis' famous hit, “Can’t Help Falling In Love.” “I recorded a video of myself playing and singing that song, choking up the whole time. Three months later for Valentine’s Day, I sent that video to Grant as a long-distance Valentine's Day gift. To this day, he still pulls up the video to watch when he’s having a rough day,” Lynn says.

The proposal: In April 2020, Grant made Lynn a nice dinner, set up with a candle on their apartment’s back deck. After they finished their meal, Grant played and sang that same love-soaked song, “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” to Lynn on her ukulele. “And then he asked me to marry him,” Lynn says.

The wedding: The couple danced their first dance to, not surprisingly, “Can't Help Falling in Love” at their wedding, celebrated in early fall. “The most memorable moment of our wedding was probably when I surprised my parents by having our DJ call them to the dance floor to play their wedding song for them,” Lynn says. “They were so surprised, and my mom cried the whole time.”

Being the music buffs they both are, the two split their honeymoon between Destin, Florida, and Chicago to attend Riot Fest music festival.
