Real Columbus Wedding: Jenna and Piyush Yadav Met on Bumble and Never Looked Back
Originally meeting on the dating app Bumble, the couple had their first date at IKEA, spending two hours walking around learning about each other. Piyush proposed to Jenna a year later on Easter.

The story: Jenna and Piyush met on Bumble in February 2020. Piyush was Jenna's first date ever on a dating app. They had their first date at IKEA, spending two hours walking around and learning about each other. “And if our furniture taste lined up!” Jenna says. “We actually had two dates in one day—we liked each other so much that we met up again that afternoon to continue the conversation.”
The proposal: The proposal happened a year later, on Easter in 2021, at Jenna's parents' house. The couple had talked about marriage and buying a house together, but Jenna had no idea that Piyush had already spoken with Jenna's family months before. A photographer in the bushes was arranged and the question was popped outside on a beautiful sunny day, followed by an engagement celebration with the family.
The wedding: A fusion of Indian and Traditional American, the couple celebrated their wedding with bright and happy colors of purple, magenta, saffron and teal—a color scheme that matched traditional decor from Piyush's hometown of Rajasthan. “Since the wedding was in the U.S., many of Piyush's family and relatives were unable to come (although the couple did have a celebration in India a couple months later), so we wanted to incorporate touches of his home in our wedding to celebrate both of our families,” Jenna says. The guest favors were homemade custom notebooks from Piyush's hometown, “and we made sure our meals included our favorites from both cultures,” Jenna says. Their musician, DJ Andre, surprised the newlyweds by taking their reception playlist and creating “some awesome Hindi and Dance/Hip Hop mashups” for all of their friends to dance to, a definite highlight of the wedding, the couple noted.
