Real Columbus Wedding: Inside Evita and Jovi Hough’s Classy Affair

Evita and Jovi Hough met at a summer rooftop party at Calahan’s. They moved to Los Angeles, CA, coming back home to Columbus to have their wedding.

The story: Evita and Jovi Hough met at a daytime, summer rooftop party at Calahan’s. After connecting, they found out they were both born in Cleveland and raised in Columbus, hitting it off at the party from their commonalities. They moved to Los Angeles within a year of being together and have lived there ever since.

The proposal: In October 2020 (during the pandemic), the two were at one of their favorite parks in LA when the question was popped by Jovi. “It was a sentimental spot, and I was not expecting it,” Evita says.

The wedding: “We are a very ‘nontraditional’ couple and wanted the wedding to reflect that,” the couple says of their special day. Evita walked down the aisle to Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games,” saying the entire event had a very “California” feel to it.

Their wedding was the first time many of their family members and friends had the chance to meet—many of whom were coming from all over the country—which felt particularly meaningful to the couple. “They couldn’t have gotten along more seamlessly,” Evita says. “We were locked down for a long time during the pandemic, so to be back in Columbus where we met and were raised was literally surreal—it felt like no time had passed,” Evita says.
